A 2-Day From Errachidia to Merzouga

Day 1: Errachidia – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga

We will start the day by picking you up at your hotel in Errachidia. Enjoy a traditional breakfast with mint tea and local bread before departure. After an hour and a half drive, we arrive in Erfoud, the “Gateway to the Sahara”. Here, we will explore fossil stores and learn about the rich paleontological history of the area while enjoying coffee and tasting fresh local dates. Next, we travel to Rissani, a historic town with a bustling market. We will visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif, the founder of the Alaouite dynasty, and explore the local souk, where you can find various fresh produce and spices. Around noon, we arrive in Merzouga. We will have lunch in a local restaurant, savoring traditional Moroccan cuisine before heading to our accommodation. In the afternoon, we will embark on an unforgettable camel ride through the impressive dunes of Erg Chebbi, enjoying a breathtaking sunset. After the camel ride, we will arrive at a desert camp, where we will be welcomed with mint tea and a traditional dinner. We will spend the night under the stars, enjoying the tranquility and beauty of the Sahara.

Day 2: Merzouga – Khamlia – Erg Chebbi – Errachidia

We will wake up early to witness the spectacular sunrise over the dunes of Erg Chebbi. After breakfast at the camp, we will ride camels back to Merzouga, where we can freshen up at the hotel before starting the day’s activities. We will visit the village of Khamlia, known for its Gnawa music, enjoying a traditional musical performance and learning about the history and culture of the community. We will have lunch at a local restaurant in Khamlia, where we can sample regional dishes. In the afternoon, we will explore the Erg Chebbi dunes in a 4×4 vehicle, visiting several scenic spots and enjoying the thrill of driving through the desert. Afterward, we will start our drive back to Errachidia, enjoying the picturesque landscapes along the way. We will arrive in Errachidia in the late afternoon, concluding our tour with unforgettable memories of the desert adventure.
